About Us
If you love your car, or you love the art of modifying and tuning, you’ve come to the right place. We want to give you all the information you need about modifying your car, whether it’s what sort of modifications you can do, how they came about historically, or what the legal and insurance requirements might be for your newly tuned car. Of course, one of the most important things to keep in mind is whether or not your vehicle complies with the law – after all, there’s no point having a beautiful or powerful car if you can’t use it and show it off!
Legal Requirements for Modified or Tuned Cars:
First of all, your vehicle must pass its regular MOT inspection – your car must be roadworthy. If one of your modifications has caused your car to become unsafe, either for yourself and your passengers or other motorists on the road, you may have to have the modification removed or repaired.
Some modifications are illegal and may be targeted by police. For example, it is illegal in the UK to have blue lighting (neons under the car or inside the car, for instance), as it is the same colour used by emergency vehicles and could cause confusion on the road. Similarly, if your car is excessively noisy, you may be fined. You can ask at your local garage or mechanics, or in the nearest motoring authority office for further advice on modifications and their legal implications.
